SPONSOR A STUDENT
💛 Sponsor a Student – Support Local Children with SEND in Devon 💛
Across Devon, more and more families raising children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are being forced to deregister from school — not because they want to, but because they’ve run out of options.
These children should be receiving the right help from schools and the local authority, as the law promises. But too often, families are refused the support they’re legally entitled to, leaving them to home educate for the sake of their child’s wellbeing.
Once they do, they discover that accessible home education opportunities are few and far between. Many sessions and community events aren’t designed with SEND needs in mind, and while local organisations do their best, they often can’t provide the individualised support these children truly need.
Children with demand avoidance or a high drive for autonomy are among the most misunderstood — often labelled as “difficult” when they’re really just doing their best to cope in environments that don’t fit their needs.
I’m doing what I can through InvisAble InkEd. I’ve created inclusive sessions and cheaper options for self-funding families, but as a small business, there’s only so much I can give before it becomes unsustainable.
That’s why I’ve launched a “Sponsor a Place” initiative.
🌟 You can sponsor a free place for a local child with SEND whose family is facing financial hardship. Sessions are £40 per hour. 6 sessions would make a whole half term’s worth of 1:1 support for a student.
🌟 Each sponsored place directly funds access to 1:1 tutoring sessions at The Pillow Fort - a nurturing, flexible space where children can learn, socialise, and build confidence at their own pace.
🌟 Sponsored places are offered confidentially to local families most in need.
This isn’t a charity — it’s a community-led, pay-it-forward project from a small local business that believes every child deserves a chance to be understood, supported, and included. 💛
Together, we can make sure that no child with SEND in Devon — especially those facing financial hardship — is left without understanding, opportunity, or hope.
